After the successful defense of the diploma, Savinov visited Italy twice. But Italy was not his theme: he was too Russian artist. In the works created in Italy, the individual Savinovsky style and method of work are already clearly noticeable. In the works created during the Italian period, the abundance of lines and colors is invariably fused into a harmonious picture of nature, among which the images of animals, women or children naturally arise, as in this picture. The game of light, the transparency of the air – all this goes, of course, also from the Saratov Volga past, which comes to life in serene Italian paintings permeated with gold.
